reject the ban on large scale solar and wind in Richland County!

Last summer, the Board of Richland County Commissioners approved a ban on future large-scale solar facilities and wind farms in 11 of 18 townships. Before this ban, if a local farmer or large landowner in Richland County wanted to lease some of their land to a renewable energy company that would produce energy to be sold to an electric utility or co-op, the County would consider each proposed project on a case-by-case basis. Today, landowners are banned from leasing their land for utility-scale projects. This referendum will give residents of Richland County the opportunity to vote no and reject the ban.

Vote No For Us

Our County Commissioners should protect private property rights and not be dictating what landowners can or cannot do on their property. The ban on renewable energy development is an overreach by our elected officials.

Vote No For Them

Landowners have the right to decide how to use their own property. Farmers should be able to choose to responsibly lease their land to generate clean energy produced right here at home that will benefit their families and the community.

Electricity costs are skyrocketing in large part due to greater demand than ever before from manufacturing and data centers. Richland County should not shut the door on energy production. We should embrace additional domestic energy generation and an all-of-the-above mix as demand increases.
